Calderglen Country Park

Cyclist looking for a full day out can bike the 7-mile route from Strathaven to Caldergen Country Park. For a more relaxed day, park up, and use your bike to explore the grounds attractions, including a tropical glasshouse, waterfall path and numerous nature trails. The 4-star tourist attraction allows cyclist access to all its paths but asks for care and attention be given to walkers and families.

Spectacle E’e Falls

If you’re looking for an easy cycle or just hoping to waste away a quick morning, the Spectacale E’e Falls are just a 2-mile cycle from Strathaven. A short route through the peaceful countryside and the little village of Sandford, you will need to dismount to walk right up to the falls. The story of the unusual name goes that a local lad fell in love with the miller’s beautiful daughter. However, the miller forbid the romance and in an act of revenge the boy threw his eyeglass into the mill’s thatch, causing a fire which caused its destruction.

Chatelherault Country Park

Just 9 miles north of Strathaven, Chatelherault Country Park has 500 acres of countryside and woodland and pathways, offering breath-taking views for miles. With picnic stops and sites looking across Ben Lomond and Campsie Hills, the park’s 10 miles of routed paths and walkways have something to impress everyone.

Strathaven to Lesmahagow

Also cutting through the village of Sandford, this longer natural cycle route is particularly quiet and good for those looking for some time alone. This area is steeped in history, known for its important sites from Scottish Covenanter times.

Strathclyde Country Park

Visiting South Lanarkshire without a bike? No problem! Strathclyde Country Park’s paths are so ideal for cyclists that they offer their own bike hire service. The park is an inspiring place to start exploring the surrounding area, including the artificial Strathclyde Loch. For a longer day out, they have a new cycle path to Chatelherault, so that you can tick off multiple parks in one day.
