We recently held a ‘Ladies who Lunch and Shop’ event at Strathaven Hotel to raise money for The Stroke Association Scotland, which I am delighted to say raised just over £1,267.
What The Stroke Association means to me
I lost my Mum back in February 2008 to a series of strokes. She was only 54. At my lowest point, I contacted The Stroke Association to see if there was anything I could do to try and help others that had gone through (or were going through) the same experience as me. I discovered the charity’s office was just on my doorstep (back when we lived in Edinburgh) and so began a fantastic relationship.
Since then, I have raised over £5,000 in memory of my Mum through sponsored runs and walks. My dream is to hold a big fashion show – watch this space!
The Stroke Association are a fabulous charity and are so supportive. They really helped pull me through the dark times after my Mum’s passing and continue to do so to this day.
Ladies who Lunch and Shop
The ‘Ladies who Lunch and Shop’ event at Strathaven Hotel was simply wonderful. It was such a fun filled few days and I even managed to attend as a customer on the Saturday so I could experience it all properly.
The flower presentation by Allison’s Flowers was first class. I really enjoyed the fashion show by ZuZu and the variety of the stalls were brilliant. It goes without saying that the food was divine and I particularly loved the chocolate pudding – yum! All topped off with the amazing Golden Lady Cocktail created by Bartender Jack – fabulous!
It was great learning the ropes off Sheila, the previous owner of the Strathaven Hotel, for this event. We couldn’t have done it without her.
I am so looking forward to organising the next one in the Autumn.
